Mina de Mar began as a way of bringing the magic of nature and all it's wonders to life in the form of jewelry. Every piece is unique and has a story to tell.

The meaning of Mina de Mar came from a deep inspiration: The treasures found in the mines of the ocean.

Our jewelry is handcrafted and made to order from one-of-a-kind pieces, including raw crystals from Mexico, freshwater pearls, abalone, shells, sea glass, opals, tiny fossils, and gemstones from around the world.

Many of the materials used in each design are very limited. We focus on high-quality, long-lasting materials in each piece, such as 14k. Goldfilled and gold vermeil. Tarnish-resistant, waterproof & safe for sensitive skin, perfect for everyday wear.

The face and hands behind Mina de Mar is Giovanna, a Mexican designer and self-taught jeweler born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. Inspired by nature and her love for the ocean, she strives to create a dainty jewelry line that expresses her passions.

“I’ve been creating for as long as I have been alive.”

From making jewelry as a hobby for her family and friends when she was little to creating a unique style clothing line while studying for her degree in design, the creative path would eventually pave the way for her future entrepreneurial journey.

When she moved to Cabo, San Lucas, Mexico, in 2013, she felt a deep connection with the ocean, and driven by pure inspiration, she drew her first ocean-style designs.

Giovanna believed that her pieces should carry some magical energy, and with excitement, she learned about crystals and gemstones from Mexico.

She visited the local mines and created relationships with the miners to support their families and businesses.

Mina de Mar started to gain success quickly when she traveled around, presenting her unique ocean pieces in curated, well-known markets.

In 2018, Giovanna moved to California, expanding the Mina de Mar brand and continuing to work handcrafting her unique jewelry between locations.

Inspired by the beautiful areas around Laguna Beach, where she resides, she has started adding new location-specific dainty designs to her collection and occasional pop-up locations that present one-of-a-kind pieces.
